Minimally-Invasive Treatment Options
at Bend Children's Dentistry
There are techniques for the management and treatment of cavities that continue to develop as more oral health research is done. Some of these techniques have allowed dentists to be more conservative in their treatments. This might include options for “no numbing” procedures that are easier for young children, patients with high anxiety, and individuals with special health care needs to tolerate. Options may include:
- Active monitoring of cavities (requires excellent home care and more frequent visits)
- Antibacterial treatments (Fluoride, Povidone iodine)
- Treatments to “arrest” or stop cavities (Silver Diamine Fluoride)
- Guided repair of tooth mineral (Curodont™ Repair)
- Modified restorative techniques (Interim Therapeutic Restorations, Hall Technique Crowns)
- For more information, please visit the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s page on Pediatric Restorative Dentistry.
